I have no idea what a duty cycle is, but I can tell you I installed, and used the hoist to lift a heavy sofa I to the garage rafters. Trhe hoist performed as expected.

It's surprisingly long, but proportional to loading. The harder it works, the hotter it gets. I've never run it continuously for more than 5 mins, but the flip side, is i've never run into thermal shutdown either. It has a fan on the rear of the motor, which blows air over the motor fins, while its running, so the housing doesn't ever get very hot. I can't say whats happening temperature wise inside the motor though.
