Is the top plate securely attached to the base, or can it be pulled off? This will be used in a seismically active area, and I wouldn't want it to come apart with any uplift. I don't suppose there's any sort of lock screw to prevent accidental adjustments?
No, the top plate is not permanently or securely locked to prevent uplift. There is no locking screw or collar to lock the threads in place once you have adjusted the jack to your desired height.
