The ground wire connects only to the negative (–) terminal of the 12V battery/power source, and if there is a separate grounding lead, it also attaches to a bare metal point on the tank or pump frame for static bonding. There is no “ground on both ends” setup—just battery negative, plus optional tank/frame bonding.

The cable is 1.5–2.5 m long, so the battery should be placed within about 1–2 meters for proper performance, or up to ~3 meters with heavy-gauge wiring.
