In order to remove the locking mechanism, there are 3 rivets which can be drilled out. There are also a couple springs to remove. Just be sure to clean up any metal shavings from drilling out the rivets or they will cause the slide to catch or bind. Again, this is permanent, so you can’t put it back in if you change your mind. Also, the single slide with the locking mechanism will no longer have a stop when opened fully (the other slide has a stop, so this should not be problematic).
