Can l use it without heat

Yes, works best with 1 liter flask, the stirrers don't work well in 2 liter flask. Flask sets on rim of platform.

How hot does it get? There doesn't seem to be any information about the maximum heat.

You are correct, there is no temperature reading. I used a 2 leader flask and it heated very quickly. I turned the heat off when temperature was reached. Just kept an eye on it for any need for more heat.
