Measure your bed from frame to top of mattress then add maybe 2 inches to account for your mounting position. I built a 2x4 frame so I mounted about 2 inches in on the 4 inch side. I built mine into an existing closet in a mobile home and it fits great. I built a small shelf that folds down at the head of the bed so I don't have a gap for pillows to fall in the underside is osb. When the bed is up it fits in like a wall, we screwed photos and things to it so it blends in nicely.

Couldn't tell you. Never used it and waited too long to return it by trying to contact the company that makes it for templates or instructions. It's sitting in my shed. I purchased the more expensive one that has excellent instructions and templates. You get what you pay for.

That will totally depend on the depth of mattress you plan on using. You control the depth by where you mount the hinges to accommodate the mattress you choose to use.

That would depend on how thick your mattress is. I built mine as a sewing station that folds under the bed so it is 27 inches deep but the bed portion is only 12 deep.
