Hello, I ordered 3 ton manual lever change hoist as well as 2, 1 and a half ton . Is it possible to remove the chain I want to take it with me on a plane and they seem rather heavy

It can be removed, but it is not recommended. When using it, a professional is needed to re-thread the chain.

I haven't actually counted and measured. Is less than an older long-armed come-a-long. My estimate is 24, maybe 30. That is not turns, pulls on the handle.

I doubt it, it's supposed to be reversible but it can't do that either in most cases, mine will just free fall, and based on reading others have the same issue, it's cheapest for a reason, it lifts fine but deff not a quality part.
