When the compressor kicks on, it has a Surge of <8 amps (60-80watts) , and then runs around 4 amps (40-60watts). I love mine. I run it on a 600Wh battery with 200 watt solar, but I'd recommend a 1k+ Wh for it to run reliably all weekend on battery alone.

I dont know. Usually, I do not purchase extended warrantys. I either fix it or toss it if a problem occurs. The money you save is put to better use in your own pocket. That's my two sense.
