Don't know. I use tap water in my rmachine. That leaves enough junk behind. Worth a try though. Depending on stream might have to put it though twice. I love mine. Could not do without it.

It could, but why? If you have electricity, your normal water is probably working too. If you are running a generator, this would take too long and use way too much fuel.

I would say it probably does. Since there would be more possible sediment than from tap water, the sediment would just remain in the bottom of the tank.
