How do you buy additional activated carbon filters like the ones that come with the unit?
Sorry, we do not sell consumables, they need to be purchased locally or online.

How do you make use of temperature control? Can lower temperatures still properly distill the water ?
Good question, I tried this exact thing with it last week, and with it set on it's distill setting (which is 108C) it actually comes out clearner at 2 PPM. and with the setting on 100C my TDS Meter shows 12 PPM. As reference I tested multipled distilled water bought in a gallon jug and it gives me a 0 each time... yes ZERO PPM. While almost any bottled water I have tested with my meter gives me 25 PPM (regardless of brand)

Higher temperatures have faster water production but it may do something to the water if it’s too hot, I’m not sure. Lower temperatures are slower production but it feels like the water is better quality

What’s the resort button for
It is a manual reset switch for the machine's thermal overload safety system, which triggers when the unit gets too hot. The distiller automatically shuts off once the water runs dry to prevent the stainless steel tank from burning or warping. After the unit cools down, pressing this button re-engages the heating element so you can begin a new distillation cycle. if this answer does not resolve the current issue, please contact us again for assistance.

Instruction to change carbon filter "every 3 months" makes no sense. shouldn't this be based on gallons distilled and the voc content of your water?
The carbon filter is basically for remove certain chemicals, particularly organic chemicals, from water. I only use this machine to create water for my bedroom humidifier. I don’t drink it.

How do you clean it before first use? Do you let it run without letting water drip out or do you let water drip out. I see no setting to just boil it
You let it run (with the citric acid water in it, half full) and drip out until it's finished. Then clean it out with a clean cloth and water. You can then use it to distill water right away.
