Good question, I tried this exact thing with it last week, and with it set on it's distill setting (which is 108C) it actually comes out clearner at 2 PPM. and with the setting on 100C my TDS Meter shows 12 PPM. As reference I tested multipled distilled water bought in a gallon jug and it gives me a 0 each time... yes ZERO PPM. While almost any bottled water I have tested with my meter gives me 25 PPM (regardless of brand)

Higher temperatures have faster water production but it may do something to the water if it’s too hot, I’m not sure. Lower temperatures are slower production but it feels like the water is better quality

I believe it’s a coated steel because I believe the inside is steel (not aluminum)….I wont be home for a week, otherwise I’d answer better. But I can say I’ve had mine for years and it filters down to less than 10 particles…my water tastes FANTASTIC…I have never regretted buying this! Zero issues with functionality years later!
