Do I need to use the anti-tip stakes to prevent it from tipping over?

My daughter has used it many times without the stakes. Only reason I really suggest using the stakes is if you will be leaving it setup. The wind will blow it over.When she first got the net it was setup on our deck so couldn't use the stakes. She is 14 and mainly uses the net for pitching.
