I did build an extension pad for mine. For stability I made it 6 inches square out of 4 layers of 3/4 inch plywood with a groove across to clear the body pinch weld. There is no easy way to attach it to the jack so get stands under the vehicle as soon as it's up!
You can remove it, but there are 4 bolts and it is where the air hose attaches. Might be more of a hassle. When it stands against a wall, it takes up very little space with the handle on.
