So, to be clear, is the pictured plug end exact, OR is it like most 30 amp cords, with the slanted prongs? The reason I'm asking is that a customer review has a very different picture of their cord. I will buy this as soon as somebody sees and answers the question...thanks

The product plug is the same as the picture, it is a 3-hole plug.

Why is a 50 amp cord in the picture advertising as a 30 amp extension cord?

Because the wire is gauge 10, the rated current is 30A.
