Distilling water

Great purchase
I have been trouble finding distilled water for my CPAP on a regular basis. The price has gone up 15% this year but the worst part is the supply is sporadic. I decided to try this distiller b/c the price was right. Indeed it was very affordable compared to many other models. I followed directions and within less than 3 1/2 hours I had just shy of a gallon of distilled water. I did sprinkle some of the citric acid "detergent" in the tank, right after emptying the distillate. It dissolved the residue from the minerals that collected at the bottom of the tank. It was a simple process. And though I stayed home and checked periodically to make sure it wasn't running dry, it DID shut off automatically. I definitely recommend this Vevor water distiller.

Great seller, the distiller works great. It is bigger than I had expected .
The water is very refreshing and clean tasting. Better than store bought distilled water in a plastic jug that seems to carry a slight plastic taste with it. Sure the carafe is plastic but it is a very hard non porous plastic and the water doesn't stay in it long anyway. There are versions of this basic distiller with glass carafes but I would suggest anyone get this plastic one. It is less likely to break and is lighter to handle than the glass. The unit has a continual fan sound going on when it is running and when you hold your hand over the top it blows out warm air. It first steams the water from the bottom unit then the top unit with a fan and condenser coils cools the steam to put out a steady small drip. I have started using this at night when I go to bed. I put a full amount of water and let it run during the cool nights to slightly warm up the house rather than use it during the day and have my AC work to cancel out the warm air put out.It is going to be interesting to see how this effects my electric bill because I use it every day. It makes coffee and tea taste better than ever, drinking a tall glass of water is much more inviting and pleasurable and I live in a place with lots of calcium and other minerals in the water I want to get out so I feel it is a very healthy way to get water. And finally. It is just fun to use. I am sure at some point the new will wear off and maybe it will end up in the pantry with all my other giant kitchen appliances but somehow for now I am really enjoying this. I think it would be a great present for someone who has everything. That and a magnetic stir pad for structured water.

Solid Performer
I've made quite a few runs through this and so far it seems to be performing just fine. The second time I turned it on, the fan didn't want to spin. A quick poke of encouragement with a chopstick seemed to do the trick and it hasn't happened again. Thus far I have used it for brandy (will be vermouth), all grain whiskey, and tequila. I do not use the charcoal, and instead use that area with copper mesh. I also run copper mesh under the lid leading to the outlet.I can't figure out how to switch it to Fahrenheit, but I'm good enough with metric to know what I'm doing.

Very Pleased
I was tired of the bill growing from the water delivery place and the husband didn't enjoy lugging gallons from the store. I only drink distilled water and I use it for pets, ice machine and several other water using appliances. This has been great. We live on a hill top with mostly rock so not much filtering for our water table. We have lots of decaying materials from the woods as well. We also have iron, badly. This is great, I run the tap water through this and then to be honest, I run it through another filtering system to be sure bacteria and viruses are gone. I know what I am drinking, I know it's safe and I control how much I have on hand. I recommend this item.

So far, so good (six uses)
The product works well enough that I'm satisfied, though I recommend selecting a higher-priced unit. The user manual is a bit disturbing, as no information on warranty is given nor contact information for problem solving. The sometimes comical, sometimes unclear fractured English problem could have been inexpensively solved if the company had contracted an English-speaking technical writer. I echo the point of a previous reviewer that white vinegar with water (50/50) is sufficient for cleaning "the dirty," rather than the supplied crystals. In any case, cleaning is easier if the automatic shut-off is intercepted before the water runs out.

It’s ok
Says it’s supposed to take 30 minutes to distill water. It has been running for over an hour and it hasn’t filled half the tank yet that it comes with, so I don’t really know how to explain this thing. I need it for my plants, but this thing is slow
