Gave it as a gift to my husband for Christmas and he says he can’t believe how effortless it is doing kindling with this product, even using a small hammer. It handles larger pieces of wood as well as smaller ones. He says it deserves five stars.

Kindling splitters come in all shapes and sizes. YouTube has dozens of videos on them. Before buying a splitter, it would be good idea to watch some of these because they do provide useful buying information. With regards to this splitter. The construction is impeccable. Solid steel for tubular steel parts. Unlike some cast iron units, nothing is bolted together. The welds are solid and the base is very stable and the powder coat paint finish was well done. Its rugged and because the blade is steel you can file it a bit to improve the ease of splitting. I first used this up on my porch which was not optimal-I had to pad it so I did not crack a tile. In the future, I will bolt it to a solid platform like a big log-plus that would raise it off the ground. With a 3 lbs hammer I breezed through splitting down dozens of logs and split wood. It was fantastic.The opening is large and all my split logs and smaller diameter logs fit wonderfully. The 'V' blade shape is great and does make splitting a little easier. The spreaders are smaller than many other kindling splitters and that is a very helpful feature when it comes to splitting unseasoned hardwood. The other feature I like about this, is its tall enough to hammer through most split log lengths 12-18" easy.I would absolutely recommend this kindling splitter.

Easy to use, works well

You need to hit the firewood with a heavy hammer to force it down and split the wood, I bought a small sledgehammer because they gave a little extra hump then what I could get with a regular hammer. And it does need to be held down to function properly whether you screw it to concrete slab for hold it down with your foot. It will bounce around from the impact of the hammer onto the wood if not secured to the ground.

This splitter really helps getting ready for the winter nights at the backyard.

The height of this kindling splitter is almost perfect. When i mount it to a base it will be perfect and my back will be better too. Its height makes me bend over too much as it is. I had to try it out today to see if it worked.It handles 20” seasoned oak like a champ!!! Sometimes you have to smack it pretty hard to get the split moving but then a couple of regular hits and you are done. Even stubborn pieces that are really too long for the splitter crack completely when you give it room to go down farther.If it holds up it will be a great buy, and i hope it does.

I was very pleased with the size and sturdiness of this kindling splitter. It came with hardware to secure it to the floor/deck/a wide base, but so far I haven't needed to do that. It works great sitting on the concrete slab. I was concerned that the opening in the top might be too small in diameter for the pieces that we have split, but that wasn't a problem at all. The unique 'V' shape of the cutting surface is very effective.

OMG! this has been the easiest thing I've ever used to make kindling. I was able to make enough for the whole winter season in a very short period of time. It goes through wood like butter. I love that it has a cover to keep it in great working order.
