Made it through my fence project
I just completed a fence project using this auger to dig about 35 holes, 42" deep. This is the second fence I've built myself. For less than the price of renting a gas 2-man post hole auger from a rental place for a week like last time I was able to order this, with 6 inch bit, an extra 10 inch bit, and extra extension rods.

Contrary to other review it does have slip clutch
It does have a slip clutch if you are strong enough to hold it or properly securing it in a way like I use my leg when it grabs the clutch slips but you need a little extra support there it's like any other auger how is it going to dig into the ground if it slips at the slightest piece of clay yes it does take some muscle but I use my leg as soon as it grabs it starts to twist I pull on with my right arm and the clutch slips it's your responsibility to let go of the freaking power switch after that I love it I love it no gas no carburetor to clog up after not using it for a month or three I can take my time doing what I got to do one post hole at a time one week at a time it doesn't matter I'll plug in and go of course my house is all solar

Digs like a champ
Bought this with not much hope given where I live the ground is hard-packed and rocky (Arizona). As long as you hold onto this thing tight and go slow, it's fine. It does get caught up on rocks but I found if you wiggle this back and forth to loosen them it will continue. If it doesn't, then you have to dig the rocks out to proceed. If you go fast and hit a rock, this device will about rip your arms off. I operate it with my thighs on either side when it gets low into the ground so it hits my legs to provide some stability. Going slow and easy is the way to prevent "whiplash". If you're just digging into regular dirt type ground this should work no problem. So far I've dug nearly 40 post holes with it without many problems.

Better than gas
Putting in 327 feet of fence. This thing is as tough as gas powered augers and half the weight.

Inexpensive did the job really effective!
For the price well worth it! Dug 20 4x4 fence post holes 3 foot deep (about max depth, included auger blade can go). It did have a torq limit which was strong enough to dig through rocks and roots but able to hold it myself. May have suggested a slightly wider diameter hole for 4x4 but choose to just use the blade that came with it. No complaints at all!

very happy with my purchase
Very impressed by this auger. I think it is as good or better than a gas auger. It has a lot of power and I had no problem drilling through all types of soil, including clay. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Way better than gas augers, love it!
I'm a handyman doing fencing and I've been through a couple gas augers in a couple years - namely the Predator from Harbor Freight. Maintaining a cheap gas engine is frustrating, I needed something reliable, so I finally decided to try this electric auger. I've dug about a dozen post holes with this auger now, and I love it!! Never going back to gas.

Great post digger!
I used this to dig six post holes for my wood fence. It worked well and I could get a deep enough hole to add gravel for drainage and get my eight foot post to just have six feet above ground. There is a clutching system if you hit a big rock. I had this happen on two of my holes and had to get the rock out of the way with other tools. You wouldn't want this with really rocky soil.
