My local welding shop recommend this type of tool for sanding the paint off the round tubes of steel motorcycle frames. They aren't cheap, and this was one of the less expensive ones I could find. I've used mine extensively over the past year. It is still working great, so I'm satisfied with my purchase.

We use this polisher to polish up the welds on our stainless steel pipe.In a matter of minuets you can get a good brushed finish. If my guys haven't tore itup in the first week. Then it has to be a solid machine.

Good tool, works great, but becomes quite heavy if you've got a bigger job to do. Being able to hold your work piece around waist level would help.

Needed a tube sander for a large bike rack sculpture I am making. Many complex curves to navigate. This tool is solid, and very easy to set up, and ran all day without getting hot. The belt tracking is amazing- so good it allows tilting to 45 degrees (with care) to fit into tight corners. The belt provided was very robust and did the rough sanding for my entire project. I was happy to find out that 1" Scotchguard belts work fine and track well too.Downsides? Well, the box is big. And it is really only of use on round tubing. Doesn't work well on square, because it generates a lot of pressure on the edges, and none in the middle. Still better off with an angle grinder for square tube.

The casting and assembly looks like it is well thought out. Not a wimpy assembly.

Bought for my son who is a welder making stair railings. His company is too cheap, to supply the proper tools to do the job right. He sent pictures of how well this sander did the job of having a smooth surface, without seeing where the wild was.

Works just fine. It's big and heavy, but I'm using it to grind and smooth welds on an old motorcycle frame so I'm trying to get into some really tight spots. The spring was a bit loose when it arrived so I took it out and opened it up a bit in the vise. Tension seems good now. It comes tie wrapped closed so the spring may have taken a set being under tension for so long. I might retrofit the head to a better quality grinder body if this one fails. Anyway, seems worth the money so far.
