This is a great deal if you know what you're getting into!First off, assembly without any directions is a little daunting. Fortunately, I found lots of very helpful assembly videos on YouTube. The assembly is pretty much the same for all DDL8700 machines, so despite a few minor differences, I was able to figure it out.Secondly, these are not new machines, but refurbished ones (which is not mentioned in the description-anywhere). The good thing is they're built tough and will last forever. They're also easy enough to service yourself if you're a do-it-yourself type.Being that this is a refurbished machine, I did have a little trouble with getting it running smoothly at first. I did a pretty thorough inspection of the whole bobbin assembly and found some old threads wrapped around the drive. Once I got that cleaned up and the tensions adjusted properly, it sews beautifully. It is also extremely quiet! My last machine sounded like a jet engine, I had to look to see if I actually turned this one on!I think it would also be helpful to look up (on Youtube) how to adjust the play in the knee lift. This comes preset too tightly (in my opinion)- no play in the knee peddle can lead to tension issues. Fortunately, I had a Singer brand version of this machine in the past and I was already familiar with how it works and how to service it myself.One of the really great features with this package is that the speed is adjustable on the motor control panel. These machines are too fast and powerful for most home users and can be very intimidating. So, no more having to figure out a way to rig the motor to slow it down enough for home use. All you have to do is press a button and dial up/down to your comfort level/project needs.The box the table parts came in had no padding in it (which seemed to be most peoples complaints), and unfortunately, the plastic drawer was cracked.
