Why didn't I get this sooner? Eight month Update
After almost 17 Months of 4L/day. Made coffee with distilled water every day. Fantastic! After almost a year did not have to clean the coffee maker. Ice still crystal clear. Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile soap is still CLEAR with no cloudy mess on the bottom. We have hard water. Now have hard scale on bottom, that flakes off periodically. became a problem after 15 months. Soaked in vinegar to remove scale. We now clean the fine powdered CaCO3 out every time.We are a 4500 feet altitude, so water boils at 95 degrees C. 95C works great. To determine your best temperature: Lower the temperature setting one degree at a time until it periodically show "--". Then raise it one degree for continuous boiling.Charcoal filter in the silver spout. Just pull it off to replace.

Great distiller!
Not new to distillers. I generally use them up. Quality seems very good on this one. Also somewhat faster than ones owned previously. I would buy this one again

better than others I've used
This is the 4th countertop distiller I have purchased. Previous makes and models all came with a mechanical on switch that was easily damaged. This unit has an electronic temperature control that not only eliminates the bad switch design, it also regulates the temperature so that the residue doesn't bake on the bottom once the unit runs dry. Although I've only had this unit running for a week or so, I like the way it's built and expect it to work well for years to come. All these units also suffer from the potential for water droplets to get into the power cord socket area and short out the machine. One must be very careful not to let this happen with any countertop unit. I lost 1 unit that way a year ago. Just a word to the wise.

It Works! TASTY, well-filtered water!
If you are shopping on a budget for a good water distiller, you need to seriously consider this model! Although it arrived with some clanky sounds coming from the box, nothing was damaged. It was just some of the parts because this does require a bit of assembly. So here’s a quick breakdown of Pros/Cons:PROS:1. Dead simple to use. The filter is already installed (comes with extras) so just wash/rinse...fill to the idiot line...plug in...and press the little up arrow to your desired temperature. I use 107.2. Dead simple to clean. They provide some cleaner in a bottle and it works! I got some tiny stain dots (probably from the heating element and bubbles) in the bottom. I just sprinkled the cleaner in, added some water, and boiled a bit. Cleaned like new!3. IT WORKS! So it runs maybe 4 hrs using cold water to fully distill. I tested the water and unfiltered I have about 127 ppm...after distilling...2 ppm. That’s fantastic in my opinion!4. Easy to wash! The glass collection container is very wide mouthed...my head might fit inside. So getting your arm in with a dish sponge is no problem!5. Glass is thick! If you like ‘em thick and chunky...it definitely is! Which means it’s a good quality...can be a tad weighty.CONS:1. Some assembly required. So you have to put two metal bands around the glass container by yourself. They screw on to hold the handle on. It can be a pain to do and if you have problems with your hands, you may need help. The screws stick out and are not just unsightly, but could also cut someone. This has not yet happened to me.2. If you want to stop the machine prior to auto shutoff, they say pull the cord. Not sure how many people enjoy sparks coming from their outlet, but they do when you pull cords out of the wall with things plugged in and running. I see no difference in mineral deposit buildup between pulling the cord out early or allowing auto shutoff...just use auto shutoff.3. There are no directions on how to replace the filters. I had to google

Temperature control is the way to go
This distiller works very well. I have read several reviews complaining about water taste not being consistent from batch to batch and other issues. Others have complained about the TDS (total dissolved solids) being high after the distillation process. Anyway, I have come up with a routine that so far each batch is consistent in taste (taste exactly like commercial distilled water), and the TDS is zero as it should be. Best of all, I don't use the charcoal filter.I fill it up with hot water. At my location it takes 20 minutes to reach full boil. I let it boil with the lid (fan unit) off for 5 to 7 minutes (this allows the VOC gases to boil off). I then place the lid on and collect the first half cup in a separate container - this is discarded just like "moonshiners do in their process. Then I collect in the glass pitcher - I use a timer to control when to shut it off. I leave about an inch of water in the distiller when the timer turns it off. That water is nasty. Leaving water in the distiller makes it easier to clean and avoids the risk of boiling unwanted contaminates at higher temps into your clean water! Following this procedure, my water taste good every time and I do not use the charcoal filter. The only long term concern I have is figuring a good way to prevent moisture from sitting in the condenser loop during storage periods. I worry about a bacteria forming there and that the water is not hot enough at that point to kill the bacteria??? So far, it has not been a problem.I did not have a good experience with Mophorn (the seller), and I don't recommend them. However, the temp controlled distiller works very well and I am please with it
