My husband loved his new wood lathe. He set it up an made something right off with no problems. He's very happy with the results and all of the new things he can craft with it!UPDATE 3/3/22Unfortunately my husband did not have the opportunity to use this much. Maybe 5/6 times over 2 & 1/2 yrs and the metal cracked. He knows what he is doing he put it together properly and used it as instructed. He went out to work on a project one day and found it cracked. To say he is disappointed is an understatement. This is a very expensive item it was a special gift as usually we can not afford items like this. It is why he was so careful with it, then so disappointed that when he finally had time to work with it he found it broken. He is afraid to use it now as it can snap while he is using it and at that rate of speed he could be seriously hurt.

This says it has an MT1 spindle, but after spending $160 on a 4 jaw chuck to go with my new lathe, the machine arrives with a solid steel shaft. No chuck taper at all, let alone an MT1. Straight up cheap. Liars on top.

For my first lathe it works fine . Waiting for self Ctr. Chuck. Just order it ought to be a great addition.

I bought this lathe for my 14year old son who expressed interest after lathing in his Junior High Shop Class. I didn't want to invest too much not knowing if the interest would stick or not. He has loved it. He has made candlesticks, a baseball bat, and a few chess pieces on it so far. The tools it comes with are not top quality, but you get what you pay for. Overall we are very satisfied with this product.

Arrived with broken square tubing end caps and a broken wire holder for power cord. Sent email asking for replacement items but received no reply. It works ok but is not a well built heavy use type of item. Once again, you get what you pay for.

This lathe fit my needs very well. It is heavy duty and made of cast iron.

This lathe seems to do everything I have needed so far. I do not have much experience yet, and no experience with a more expensive lathe. The tail stock is true once locked down, but you have to pay attention when you lock it down and make sure it is straight and square. If it is not locked down, it is loose and difficult to drill, but I do not know if this is usual with a wood lathe. It takes the nova chuck (with an adaptor) and grizzly chuck. The variable speed is very nice, and I appreciate I can change speeds quickly for different tasks. This was a big deal for me as I will turn and sand. The tool rest is not very smooth and I upgraded it. It is quiet and very secure. I use it on my 36" work bench, and it is a very solid machine. At this point, it is certainly a great lathe for me starting out. It is capable of everything I am asking for if I have the right chuck.
