The bracket that is mounted to the reel slides into the mounting plate that you attached to the wall or ceiling. As long as you have room on the side you slide the reel out of the bracket, you can remove the reel.

What kind of screw should I use to mount this onto the stubs? It does not come with hardware...

I used two short LAG bolts. Yes, it may be too much but it is solid and I have used it a lot since I got it. I am sure solid screws would work but I installed it permanently and short (1-inch) lag bolts hold it perfectly. Something with a good thread size.

Great value

I purchased 2 of these within the last year to mount to the ceiling in my home shop. If it was a commercial location these would not work because they have to have an adjustable retract tension. These work very well. I run several small tools with them. The retraction is quite strong and the amount of retraction is adjustable using the moveable stop. Some of the poor reviews in my opinion are from people using it where it is not intended to be used. If you install it correctly I do not see how it could fall. If I end up needing another I will not hesitate to purchase another of these.
