If you have hard water, are asthmatic or prone to irritants, this evaporative type is what you need. This was suggested to me by my pulmonologist after years of using the other type. By not creating a fine mist (ultrasonic type) it does not spread the small mineral particles in the air. Also manages to quickly raise the humidity in my home. The type of filter is preferred over the unstructured wick type which seem to discolor and need to be replaced more often. Overall, a fantastic option for adding humidity during the winter months!

I've just had this about a week, but so far I'm really happy with it. I have extremely sensitive hearing and couldn't use my old humidifier at night because the slightly unevenly rotating fan created a bit of a whining noise that I couldn't sleep through. However, this one seems perfectly even (so far at least), so even at fan speed 3 (out of 4) it's just a simple innocuous white noise. It's also not very loud at speed 3, kinda loud only at speed 4, and suuuper quiet at the lower speeds. The only drawback is that the reservoir doesn't hold a lot at a time below the max fill line, so I have to refill it a couple times a day. However, the side opening makes it handy (you don't have to take it apart to refill it). I just keep a pitcher next to it so refilling is not a big deal. Also, \"sleep mode\" turns the LED display off but also turns the fan speed way down, so I've just been placing a small object over the display to sleep at night, which works fine. I live in a drafty old house with forced-air heat, and now that it's getting really cold out, this is really being put to the test. So far, I find that it can keep my 200-sq-ft bedroom at around 40% humidity (or high 30s) on a cold day, and up to 50% on a milder day, at fan speed 3. (I haven't tried speed 4.) I wouldn't want to try to treat more than one room with this little humidifier, but it's a good choice for this size of space.

The humidifier is functioning well. The water diffuses at a high speed, which is great. However, since it’s an evaporative humidifier, the filter needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent a strange, unpleasant odor. It runs quietly when the speed is low.

Well made, easy to setup, works well in small rooms or at least one room. Set it forget it. Just remember to refill with water. I would recommend using humidifier drops, to combat stagnation and bacteria filtration.

Bought this humidifier for my bedroom as I have forced air heat and was waking up everyday with a bloody nose because it was so dry in our house. Set it up as soon as I got it and within one day I felt such a huge difference! I feel like I am breathing so much better, and my husband is even snoring less! The unit operates flawlessly, it runs very quiet, though I usually sleep with a fan anyway for white noise, and it lasts all night and a good portion of the next day before I need to refill it. Highly recommend this unit.

I really like this humidifier. There's no mist and it's easy to fill up. The filter can be washed once a month. I've been using tap water and it seems to be okay. I did purchase an extra filter in case I need to replace it. The humidifier will run through the night without refilling. I did cover up the top light at night.
