I love the bucket method. If it’s a good system like this one you’ll get no water leaks. It’s easy to adjust the nutrients and pH pretty much does everything other than cut and trim I love it it seems like the PVC pipe way doesn’t produce much more than decent vegetables, or you have to have a big area and water line. Anyways, I prefer the bucket nothing for years and it’s never failed me. In my opinion it’s the best.

I'd say it depends on what you want to grow. Any Vining plants (Tomatoes, cucumbers) or even peppers I'd use buckets. I've used pvc pipe for lettuce, pok Choi, spinach, etc. Something that will use a lot of nutrients you'd want to use the bigger container. They will still grow but probably slightly slower. Then you just add more nutrients to it off and on. Mine have been growing good without the pump for at least 3 months(I moved my room around and just haven't gotten to hooking it back up. see less I'd say it depends on what you want to grow. Well it's all on what you plan on growing from a bucket or pvc pip set up. Just figure out what your growing first.
