After many uses, I have found this slicer is not as " heavy duty " as I had wished. The guide plate flexes way to much, and causes uneven slicing. You will have a 2 mil to 5 mil slice every time. It is not recomended to be used in any heavy slicing conditions. I make my own bacon and even partially frozen bacon is difficult to slice.
Mild soft meat and small block cheese is about all I would recomend.
