The round hole isn't well placed
The location of the round hole on the horn, so close to the ~4mm step up to the face, makes the hole pretty awkward to use. As a Pritchel hole, it is too close to the step to provide full-round support for punching. As a round hardy hole, maybe you could locate against the step to control rotation, but otherwise the step is a problem. Because of the step, the best use of the hole is probably just for a hold-down. If you need hole for a punch, use a bolster plate over the square hole instead--that won't mess up your work.If the makers wanted to make the round hole useful, they should move it more onto the face, extend the face around the hole, or raise the horn to match the face and provide all-round support to the hole.

Nice price for a piece of metal
The price is way more than fair for this much steel, compared to all other options out there. I knocked off one star because there is a lot of work to be done on it before it is very usable. But I knew that when I ordered it. The anvil arrived in only a few shreds of a box left, but the item was still ok. I was concerned about the paint used, so I did strip it off. I did not want to be breathing in unknown fumes caused by hot metal vaporizing it. Instead, once stripped I coated it all in rust converter. Make a very tough black finish that is way better than the way it came. The horn needs to be ground smooth to be useful and it took quite a bit of grinding to make it happen. There is no way to get all of the pits out without losing too much metal, but I got it to be satisfactory. The casting on the sides is rather laughable. ACCHIO is optimistic, as the A was nothing but a blob. Still, this does not affect function. All of the edges needed work but the top was nice and smooth and did not need much work. As small as this anvil is, you will need to mount it well. I fabricated some simple brackets and mounted it to a log. It is much more solid now. Bottom line: If you don't mind some work this anvil can be a usable small anvil for smaller projects, knife making, or a great beginner anvil.

Good Anvil for the price !
Decent anvil for the price, the horn must be ground to the proper shape and to smooth the casting, as its pretty rough, but overall its a decent size and great for a starter. The box it came in is extremely light cardboard with no padding - and the heel had gone through the side of the box receiving some minor damage to the tip of the heel, nothing that can’t be ground / worked , but a shame it’s just rattling around in the paper box..

Too small for forging/blacksmithing
This is a great anvil. It is just too small for my purposes. Good quality.
