This item works as advertised. It distills water, and that is it's intended purpose. There will most likely be residue remaining in the container when the process is complete. Unless you have really clean water, but then why would you need to distill it? The thing that took me a moment is that the residue can stink. If you stop the process just before the last of the water distills, you can avoid the stink and messy clean up. It still works for it's intended purpose, and that's what it needs to do.

We moved to a place with really bad water. Testing was off the charts with minerals and who knows what else. The water tasted nasty, even when boiled. We got this and what a difference! It takes out so much gunk. I don't think i really get a full gallon each time, but that's ok. I drink a lot of water and there's no way I wanted to buy and lug gallons from the market to my home. We are renting so we couldn't exactly install a filtration system either. We tried the jug filter method and we still do for coffee and cooking water but i don't even like drinking it because it still tastes off and measures pretty high, still on the testing. But this device gets it almost to zero on the test meter. The water tastes GREAT! It doesn't taste weird or flat to me. I've had zero issues with it. It does take a few hours to complete. I don't know if that is good or bad. I've never owned one before so i can't compare its features to others. We are constantly using it and we clean it really well so there's no buildup either. I would totally recommend this product and buy again if i needed one.

Works as intended, use for my humidifier , no longer find white specs everywhere and dont have to lug home bottles of distilled water. Very easy to clean. Takes 2 hours to make a batch of distilled and shuts off on it's own. The bottom white plastic strip of the glass container came off, son puts a cardboard under the glass container for a slight tilt, and the spout fits very well! Makes my day!

I have used this several times and it worked just fine. It takes about 3 1/2 hours to do a gallon of water, that is the bad part.Use it for my plants when I run out of rain water.

This distilling unit is easy and quick to assemble and use. Cleaning is also simple. There is a fan which forces air past a heat exchanger on the top, but it is not noisy.My unit came with a defective glass jar, which developed cracks during the first use. I contacted the seller, however, and they paid to replace the jar with a glass bowl to do the same job. I appreciate this from the seller.
