It works good!!

I guess you get what you pay for. I ordered this pump to replace a 3/4 hp Red Lion to pump water out of the river into the tank. The Red Lion pump worked well but got clogged with unremovable mud during a flood, and when I went to replace it, the cost had risen to $600 (from $350) for a new one. I thought I'd give this one a try at about 1/4 the cost. When it arrived it was poorly boxed with thin Styrofoam protecting the bottom which resulted in a bent casing at the bottom of the motor side. It didn't appear to compromise the integrity of the watertightness, so I let this go. Biggest problem is the wires. Instructions included with the pump are worthless to tell which wires go where, so I contacted the support which is advertised to be excellent. They sent me another copy of the same worthless instructions. I bench tested it and "guessed" correctly that the blue and brown wires were the hot wires and the green/yellow wire was the ground. Biggest problem is the size of the wires---18 ga. for a 1 HP pump. That is barely adequate for a 60 W light bulb, and they are so small that it is a challenge splicing them to the 8 or 10 ga wire you need to run to the pump with waterproof splices. Come on---spend an extra dollar and put 3 feet of decent gauge wire from the motor. Anyway, when all was said and done, the pump did work to pump water, although at a slightly lower volume than the Red Lion it replaced. For 1/4 the cost I can live with this. Can't speak to durability as it has only been working a few days. To cover this, I bought the extended warranty for $20. Not sure I would ever put this down in a well unless you can pull the pump yourself. Warranty doesn't cover the costs of paying a well company to pull your pump.

Well made and works great. This replaced one that was less than a year old which broke in the well and I had no water for a week. I hope this one last me for a lot longer.
