This is hard...the unit is constructed from what seems to be quality components with the exception of the temperature control. The castings and fasteners are nicely made but :1) the control mob isn’t aligned to the temperature scale in the faceplate (see photos of fully counterclockwise and fully clockwise).2) though I have a non-contact thermometer to “map” out the settings to actual temperatures I can suggest that you don’t bother. The swing of temps at one setting is quite large suggesting poor feedback/control by the thermocouple/control circuit and from end to end on the bar and top bar versus bottom bar variations are quite large.But, this is not to say it doesn’t work to seal bags and when properly executed the seal does look fantastic owing to the sealing bar structure and coating.I bought this for 7 mil aluminized Mylar bags. And, because sealing is a combination of time and temperature I did find a setting of 100C on the dial adequate at a few seconds to provide a robust seal. Normal “food saver” bags were quickly (~1 sec) sealed at a setting of 50C on the dial.However, I suspect that there is a low quality component in this system somewhere. Could be the heaters, the temperature control rheostat or the control circuit. Which is unfortunate as it takes away from the aspects that are of nice quality for this device.Based on the reviews I read this was anticipated. Sadly, the manufacturer could undoubtedly fix the issue for very little additional cost in components and not have to spend so much on Customer Service and replacing items.Also, they could truly stand to redo the manual. I’d gladly clean up the translations for them gratis but they really need to improve the diagram used in parts identification...and indicate where the parts can be ordered from. There is no indication on the box or in the manual who makes the product or how they can be contacted.I will keep mine as I’m willing to deal with its idiosyncrasies.
