I built a loft in my barn to store bins of items that we use during Holidays. I built a gantry boom that I mounted the hoist on and use the hoist to raise and lower bins instead of carrying them up and down stairs. It works like a charm.

can't seem to find any brackets that are at least two inches wide!

Only reason for the 4 star is the short cord for the controller . I had to rewire a longer cord .

We are lifting about 500 lbs and no problems.

I didn't need anything really heavy but it lifts an engine with transmission so plenty big for what I needed.

Got the PA 600 and pulled a 350 Chevy engine with it the next day without a problem. Could not even tell that the hoist even felt the weight of the 500lb+ engine. I had it rigged with double pulley. Very smooth and strong operation. Great Hoist!

Bought this for an installation that will see occasional use lifting a 500ish pound antique hose cart to a 20' elevated platform. It will be used a few times a year and needs to work when it needed but didnt justify spending 2-3x the price. The quality is good- consistent with Harbor Freight's line of imported tools. It has been cycled with load 8x or so to date and has no issues. I purchased something with a capacity 3x what I needed to allow for a fudge factor, but so far this thing seems to be a champ. If you are looking for bang for the buck this is your firecracker buddy. Try it. -A.K.
