Looking for a poly or pex pipe for a potable well with pump set at 450 feet deep. Will this pipe work for that?
I have a well and have replaced the pump (and pipe) in it a few times. My experience tells me that PEX pipe is really not appropriate for a well. It comes in a roll, and thus has a natural bend in it, which is going to cause problems at the bottom of the well shaft, tending to push the pump to one side at the bottom, rather than it being centered. There is a seal down at the bottom that you have to get the pump through, and this off-centeredness is likely to cause you problems. Also, I don't think there are any pitless adapters made for PEX fittings, so you would have to convert from PEX to PVC or a metal fitting going into the pitless adapter -- more points of failure. Any in-line pex fitting at the top will be supporting the weight of 450 feet of PEX plus the weight of the pump plus the weight of the water in 450 feet of pipe. The SharkBite fittings stay on with tiny teeth that grab and hold the pipe. All that weight will put a lot of stress on those little teeth, and I would fear that over time they would give out and the remaining pipe and pump would then plummet to the bottom of the well. So although this would be a cheaper alternative, my recommendation is that you instead use PVC pipe that is chemically welded together with PVC cement. Good luck with your project!

Looking to build off-grid rainwater collection system, would this be suitable for burying a line from the top of the hill to the water tank.
Depends on climate conditions. I would bury it deeper and insulste it in colder climates. Warmer climates would be just fine

Would This tubing be suitable for a potable water yard line?
I personally ran about 90 ' from my house to garden. I buried underground about 8" I guess we will see. Its been good so far, I plan on blowing out line before freeze up but Pex is very forgiving on freezing .
