What exactly is the coconut coir mat for? The instructions said you should use coconut coir to make the bedding. There was a coconut coir mat and a brick, so I used the mat. I teared it up and mixed with soil. You should explain better, because the instructions were not clear about the difference between the coconut coir mat and the brick.
Because Many insect species, such as earthworms, like alkaline soil, so using coconut bran is currently a low-cost and cost-effective substrate. Coconut bran is not essential. If you can find a suitable substrate for cultivating insect species, choose Other substrates are also available.
By vevor
The coconut fiber mat is placed inside the lid to block the odor in the breeding box from escaping and to prevent small flying insects from entering the breeding box. The coconut bran bricks are soaked and then mixed with soil to serve as the substrate for the initial breeding of insect species.
By vevor
Do I get worms with this,or do I have to buy them
No, you need to add endworms or earthworms yourself.
By vevor
Do you have to add your own worms when you set it up?
Yes, you need to add worms or earthworms.
By vevor
Up to how many lbs. of waste per week would this composter accommodate? Are additional trays available for purchase, if needed?
The net weight of the product is 5.1 KGS. The maximum weight of earthworms that can be cultured in all 5 layers is about 7.5KGS. The composter can process 7 kgs of waste per week. We don't sell additional trays.

Working Well - Decent Quality
Still not sure when to add another tray, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. So far pretty satisfied.

GREAT PRODUCT!
I've had two different worm bins before this one. And this is my all time favorite. It has sturdy legs and everything fits snugly. Plus the worms love it! Very happy with this product.

Exceptional product.
I started a worm farm a year ago in a tote. I transferred them to this stacking unit last December. Far exceeded my expectations. Such a space saver. It sits in my laundry room next to my kitchen. Easy to assemble and use. My worms are multiplying like crazy and my kitchen scraps are disappearing.

Great inside composter
This composter is very easy to assemble. You basically attach a spout and layer the different parts. Add worms, dirt, food, and cardboard. I started with 1000 worms from Uncle Jim, which is 1 pound of worms (compost about .5 lb per day) definitely recommed purchasing worms from them. I keep my composter inside my laundry room (I live in the south, they'd die in our heat). It isn't odorless, but it isn't a terrible odor, kinda smells like damp dirt with a tough of sweetness. I'm okay with this in my laundry room, but I don't think I'd have it in my kitchen or anywhere close to where we spend a lot of time, or anywhere guests would be. Side note, my kids love these little guys. My 4yo said they are the best pets because they don't bite or scratch. My 8yo loves making smoothies in the blender using our scraps (not necessary, but it makes it easier for the worms to eat). I'm looking forward to using the worm castings for the garden, especially since the wild critter keep chowing down on my compost pile to the point of having very little compost to use in my garden. Definitely recommed this product!

It's a commitment
Does this work? Yes. I recommend this but be aware It is not maintenance free and will be a commitment if you want to be successful. A few things I found out. You need to chop the food into smaller pieces so the worms can digest it faster. Follow the instructions and tips on what/how to feed. Remember to check and drain any liquid from the bottom each time you add food scraps. It's also important to add some dry material if the bedding gets too wet. No matter how well how I try to achieve perfection, there is always one or two escapee worms per week on the floor in my basement- sometimes more, so this might not be something you want in the kitchen. Otherwise it's a well designed product and it does make rich vermacompost!

I LOVE IT
In my endless search for a worm bin, I found this to be the sturdiest and one of the larger capacity ones that could still fit in the small area I have available inside my home. The final selling point was the color option - it is so pretty! I started out with 1200 worms , they are doing great and I love the ease of use with my bin. I would easily get another bin at some point in the future.

Excellent product
I have several worm bins. I have had them for many years. They are from a different manufacturer but the same stacking type. I decided to try this particular worm bin. It was less expensive and I thought I'd try a new one a try. I am glad I did. It is fantastic! Nothing wrong with my other bins. But this one is far superior. It has more trays, they are a little smaller, which is actually a plus because these trays get very heavy when they are ready to be emptied. Everything has been been well thought out by the designer of this worm system. . If I were going to buy another bin, it would be one for sure. And the customer service was excellent. If you're looking for a worm bin, this is the one I'd choose

Best Ever Gift! Eliminates Food Waste!
We started with a half pound of worms locally and still are on the first bin. Our food waste is next to nonexistent - and that makes us happy since our city does not collect compostables.Setup is a breeze because everything is included! Hooray! I wish I had bought more worms to start, but I think the local worm farm wanted me to to get the bin environment going before adding too many worms. The worms are happily multiplying and we have many babies and cocoons!I've had NO TROUBLE with flies or other pests. If you are having trouble, your bin is either too wet or you are feeding too much. Cover your bin with a few pages of newspaper and a couple inches of shredded paper and cardboard. If you squeeze your paper and it drips, your bin is too wet! It should feel like a wrung out, wet sponge. I mist my top layer of newsprint every couple of days. We've kept our bin in the kitchen for handy access since March! No smell, very clean. Our 65 lb. dog leaves it alone, so you don't have to worry about your pets messing with it.My bin still has not had liquid come out of the spout yet. If you have a lot of liquid draining, add more shredded paper and cardboard. My preference is to feed the worms about twice a week. Our food scraps get chopped and saved in plastic freezer bags. When they're low on food, I take some of the frozen food and let it defrost before adding to the bin.I'm so glad my family got me this bin - instead of making a DYI version. It's AWESOME!
