Definitely needed for lifting large equipment
I bought this for lifting my truck camper shell using my gantry crane. Although I haven't had time to try it on the shell I did try it on a generator and various other heavy objects and it works like a charm and self adjust as you lift!

Perfect for pulling anything
You could use for lifting, but my use was dragging stuff behind tractor. With loop and good hooks on ends, far easier to fasten to drag things like logs around.
