We have a Solo Bonfire fire pit and this makes it super easy to create kindling to start our fires. IT works from whole logs to the smallest pieces. I'm talking down to pencil width pieces of wood. I use my 4lb sledge hammer with big pieces and a regular hammer for smaller pieces. It is very study and works as expected. I keep small, medium and large pieces of kindling in my solo stove. Having the wood already cut down makes it easier to get a good hot fire goingn spur of the moment. Once the fire is rolling, it doesn't matter if I put wet wood on because it all burns. This is much safer and definitely easier than trying to split wood with a hatchet.
