Pros and cons with this one. Some the cons are stupid stuff they should have just did better. The good: First and foremost, it does the job it was made to do very well. It holds 25 lbs of sausage, which is important because recipes usually scale in increments of 5 lbs. Works well. MOST of the machine is easy to clean (see cons for cleaning comment). All of this is why I gave it four stars. The bad (this is why I didn't give it 5 stars): Foot switch cord too short, literally does not reach the floor from a low table (easily rectified, but really, you couldn't make it 2 feet longer?). On cleaning, you cannot unscrew the disc from the shaft, so you wind up needing to place the entire appliance in the sink - and if you don't have a large sink, that's a problem. The controls are not completely intuitive, and even after a lot of experience with it I still find myself in trial and error mode on what makes it go up and what makes it go down. Also there are several on/off switches - a master switch, a switch for the motor controller, and a direction switch that has a "neutral" (off) position. The down speed to acceptably adjustable, but touchy, i.e., a small amount of movement is a big speed difference. I wish the UP speed was faster. I worry that if power failed (or switch, or motor...), there is no way to manually reverse the machine to empty whatever meat is in it.
