I needed a Good long lathe for my small machine shop. I liked this one because ir had a full 8 inch x 24 inch working area. After the usual removing of the chicken fat and thread locking the loose bolts and screws it is a great small-used machine. It has already paid for itself in completed jobs.

This metal lathe is what we needed for many repairs and it is doing the job and then some. I just need to learn more about it and I know I will be able to get alot more done with it.

It can be used for general purposes. Is not of a good quality manufacturing. Can't be 'zero-in' and therefore can't be used for precision machining.Everything is loose on it and either that Amazon customer service was excelent and gave me a discount for lack of quality I want to advise everyone whom is looking to buy a lathe for precise machining, this lathe is not the one.

Nice looking lathe. Love the RPM speed readout on it. Wasn't impressed with the delayed shipping, maybe don't advertise fast shipping if it isn't. Need to switch out tool posts though, the stock one sits a bit too low.

Good lathe at fair price
Shipping was timely, packaging good,no damage. Pillow block on right end of leadscrew needed .030 removed so half nut did not drag.Missing flat spring in crosslide feed dial.Fabricated new one from feeler gage.Missing 4 gears from package that the front panel chart calls for common threads, perhaps I received doubles of whatever the packagers had on hand. The manual states different gears for threads than the front cover chart.Other than that plenty of power and reasonable accuracy!50 years + machining experience now retired!

Bryan King - variable speed lathe review
Package was sturdy and contained everything without damage. The lathe is powerful enough to cut chromoly. I have tested mild steel, chromoly, and aluminum so far. The harder metals have a rough surface cut but that could be my cutting speed to the tooling as well. The cross slide has developed some slop as I have used it but adjusting the gibs solved that problem. The machine was fairly Trammed our of the crate otherwise. The only issue I have unresolved is a lose tool rest. I need to disassemble the cross slide to access a few Allen screws to make adjustments. Otherwise, aside from a few loose screws, this lathe is an excellent machine. I think after adjusting I can get accurate to a thousandth of an inch in hard metals with some minor surface blemish which can be buffed with Emery cloth.

CONDITION ON ARRIVAL
This is my first lathe, so I was hesitant to purchase this. The lathe arrived in excellent condition and was packed in a custom wooden box which was well put together. the lathe had no marks or missing pieces and all was good. If I had to complain about something it would be having to remove all that cosmoline, otherwise perfect

Good Lathe, Needs Setup and Care
It's a good lathe. But it needs setup, adjustment and care. After an hour or so of adjustments and cleanup you can do some basic lathe work with decent accuracy with everything that is included. If you are patient and mechanicaly inclined. There's some basic modifications you can make to get to a higher level of accuracy and usability if you search on the internet. There's mini lathe videos, tutorials and modification tips all over.

Great product
My name is C.D. Somers. I have been a machinist for 45 years. I am retired but still like to tinker. This mini lathe is a great little addition to my tools of the trade. Very tight and well built. I love that it has metal gears instead of plastic ones. Am looking forward to many years of use. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you.

Diamond In The Rough
If you want to plug and play and accuracy is not your goal, this little machine will render positive results. The lathe has the potential of being tuned to much higher tolerances, but it will require you to do some work. YouTube is full of great videos tuning your machine. In my case, I disassembled it, measured and corrected the hastily assembled product. The least you should do is to clean and deburr many parts. Grease is sloppily applied (if at all). There’s overspray on the ways. The carriage and tails stock don’t run smoothly on the ways. I lapped the carriage with 240 grit sandpaper strip glued to the ways. A lot of elbow grease, but it’ll make everything operate so much better. I’m planning on replacing the bearings with high quality angular contact bearings that can stand both radial and axial loads.I can go on for hours about all the improvements that can be made to this lathe. I knew all this when buying this machine, and it has not discouraged me from purchasing it. It’s still a great price, and you get a lot of bang for your bucks. Buy it.
