Automotive Smoke Leak Detector Structure
Quick detection indicator: For non-smoke leakage detection, leakage in the pipe is quickly detected.
- Smoke detecting indicator: To detect the leakage point quickly for smoke leakage detection.
- Power indicator: This indicates the detector’s power status.Working indicator: The working indicator is on when the detector is in use.Working mode selection switch: This switches between quick detection mode and smoke detection mode.
- Working switch: one pressing is on; one more pressing is off. A high-accuracy pressure gauge is used to display the working pressure during detection and to make judgments.
- Air flow meter: This is used to adjust the air flow by the air flow to judge the severity of leakage.
- Smoke outlet pile: The detector’s smoke outlet is connected to the detection port.
- Power supply cable: Input DC12V, connected to vehicle battery.
Attention: For the first usage, oil filling 20- 30ml, please do not fill more than this amount. When the smoke is low, less than 20ml is needed for each refill. Please replace the internal oil regularly.
Note: During the refilling, please ensure the detector is powered off and cooled down, otherwise there is the risk of damaging it.

Operating Instruction
- Place the detector on a flat surface, tighten the air cell adaptor clockwise, and insert the front end into the pile that needs to be detected.
- Press the manual pump to inflate the air cell, seal the pile completely, and ensure no leakage. Insert the outlet of the smoking pipe into the air cell adaptor’s inlet, ensuring there is no leakage. Connect the detector to the vehicle DC12V battery, connect RED to “+”, black to“-”. When the power is connected correctly, the power indicator will be on.
Note: DO NOT CONNECT THE TERMINAL IN REVERSE
- Select the working mode; the default is quick detection mode. If there is already a leakage, please select smoke mode directly.
- Turn on the switch; the detector starts to work.
- Adjust the air flow valve to control the air flow and fit the pressure capability of the pipe system.
- If the quick detecting mode is chosen, after operating for about 2 min, the float of the air flow meter will gradually sink to ”0,” which means there is no leakage in the pipe. On the contrary, there is leakage in the pipe. (The above operating leading time refers to a small vehicle; it will be a longer lead time for a big vehicle. The lead time will be different according to the size of the vehicle.)
- If the smoke mode is chosen, after operating for about 2 minutes, the pipe will be filled with smoke. (The above operating lead time refers to a small vehicle; it will be longer for a big vehicle. The lead time will be different depending on the size of the vehicle.)
- Observe the floater’s status in the air flow meter; if it stands still at the bottom, there is no leakage in the pipe. On the contrary, if it goes up or jumps, there is leakage in the pipe.
- The severity of the leakage can be judged by its position; the higher the floater, the heavier the leakage.
- During the detection, please use light to illuminate if necessary. Where the smoke is observed is the leakage point.
- When the detection is over, please properly store all the cables and pipes.
- Note: Please try to avoid detecting areas that are sensitive to smoke.
- During the EVAP system detection, please check the pressure in real time, and turn off the air flow control switch on time.
Each operation should not be more than 20 minutes, please wait for 15 minutes between two usages. The detector is equipped with a protective device; it will be powered off automatically when a specific limit is reached. In this case, please pause the next usage.
PLEASE DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER CABLE IN REVERSE. In this case, it will trigger the self-protecting function; the detector will not function. If the power cable is connected in the wrong way frequently, it will damage the detector or influence the device’s lifetime.
Daily maintenance and consumables
- In a high-temperature environment, the smoke oil will oxidize and deteriorate, influencing the lifetime of the smoke-generating element; it needs to be replaced regularly.
- When the detector is not used for over a week, it must be refilled with new oil. Please drain the used oil.
- When there are many water drops at the smoke outlet port, please replace the oil.
- It is recommended to use the specific smoke oil.
- Please use the oil bottle as an accessory for refilling.
