Use your own media, I loaded it with sponges and some bioballs. It has done a great job on my 54 gallon setup.

Having kept fish-turtles-snails for 30 years, I've tried about every type of filter that's out there. I was surprised how clean this canister kept my turtle tank as turtles are very messy. It replaced a filter that cost me 3 times as much but didn't work as well as this guy. You wont be disappointed with its Strong flow and good Mechanical - Biological filtration.

It stops pumping water and has to be cleaned way more than my others, rates for a 75 gallon and I’ve got it on a 40 gallon and doesn’t keep crystal clear at all!😞
